MERYL YOURISH SAYS IT'S ALL MY FAULT, as she rates the superheroes for, ahem, action-adventure appeal. True to my prediction, the Elongated Man does very, very well.
Maybe I should rate the female superheroes (superheroines?), but, really, it's such a short list, with only one answer: Supergirl, as played by Helen Slater. 'Nuff said. (Though it may raise issues akin to these. Ouch.)
Wonder Woman? She doesn't like men, does she? She might be a good pick for, say, Norah Vincent, (though somehow I don't see them as a couple), but I figure anyone who yells "Sufferin' Sappho" doesn't belong on my list. Besides, I used to see Lynda Carter all the time at the late, lamented "21 Federal" in Washington, back when I was a rich lawyer who went to places like that. She was more of a babe without the costume, which surely cuts against it.
Now Saturn Girl was kinda hot. Hot enough that I don't really remember her super power. Telepathy? Precognition? Something like that. (UPDATE: It's telepathy and mind control. I love Google! Oh, and Umbra, who I don't remember at all even under the old name of "Shadow Lass," isn't bad, either).
Ahem. I had a crush on Supergirl long before Ms. Slater stuck her mug into the part and ruined any latent fantasies. Fortunately, I'm well past any of that.
Now, that red-head from F4. Can't remember her name, but I can't forget ***HER***. Some fantasies are just too precious to let go.

I have to confess I fell in love with Power Girl when I was in a particularly sorry state in the early 90s. Even so, during the time when I was reading comics religiously the uberbabe was Death. You can't talk about comic book babes without mentioing her. I hope Chad Dimpler will have more to say on this...

Crystal. She was an Inhuman. I think she married Quicksilver. Sorry, dude.
Or was it Medusa, the one with the really long hair? She was also an Inhuman. Both on the Moon last I heard, but I've been out of the comics scene for a while.

You're right, Meryl, it was Crystal - Medusa was her sister, I believe.
And Iain is right, too - if I were a guy, Death would certainly be my choice. Plus, we already know who should play her, so it's safe.
But I'm getting this feeling Glenn has a blonde fetish....

SG is the one part I *didn't* like Slater in. Try Secret of My Success (with Michael J. Fox) or Ruthless People for sheer crushworthiness. Ah, youth ...
Female superheroes that appeal include, of course, the jailbait Rogue ... Ah, attenuated fanboyism ...

Well, I cast my vote for Hawkgirl (Hawkman's better half), especially as she now runs a very cool blog (hawkgirl.blogspot.com).

Are supervillains allowed to be considered? Because I always had a thing for the various Catwomen that were on the old Adam West Batman series. Meow, indeed.

Jean Grey/Phoenix of the X-Men. Problems: No lie is believable; Jean Grey occasionally eats solar systems.
Anyway, Rogue is no longer jailbait (although last I checked, you wouldn't want that to get physical) and Crystal is no longer married, although she does have a kid.

What - no one has a thing for Black Canary? Green Arrow certainly did...until he bought the farm, that is. A very vocal lass.

Deep below Dimpler Towers we ran the question through the crime computers in Dimplenook (the maze of prehistoric tin mines below the manor itself: a major historic attraction, £5 per person, party rates apply. Please refrain from entering the areas behind the rope fences).
As portrayed on the screen, my computer tells me, the only true contender is Catwoman as portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer. Neither hero nor villain, but just the right way to fill out PVC.
But as pen and ink renditions of the genre go, I should have to plump for the splendid Miraclewoman (nee Marvelwoman). But only iof drawn by Alan Davis.
Actually, any of them drawn by Alan Davis....

Mary Marvel. '70s style. Those little yellow slippers...

The Black Cat, though she's arguably a supervillain and definitely what guys back in my dating days used to call a "psycho-bitch." The Scarlet Witch.
But hands down: The Black Widow. Even if you can't figure out how to get that suit off the two of you can still have a pretty good time.

It is pathetic how few decent female superheroes there are in general. Emma Peel, while not a true super-hero, was always my favourite. Catgirl in the Batman movie was nice as well. Hrm, notice they both have a tendency for leather/black pvc cat-suits. Then there is always Lt Ivonava from Bab5, not a super-heroine either or is she?

No discussion of superhero "action adventure appeal" would be complete without a link to this:

Blonde fetish? I certainly don't have one in real life, but maybe in comic books? Anyway, blondes are rather overrepresented among superheroines.
I wasn't counting supervillainesses though. Catwoman definitely rules.

I have to put in a second vote for Jean Grey. Telekinesis could make for some interesting times, plus the red hair...
Mmmmm...

I've got to go with the Huntress. though Black Canary isn't too far behind. Canary is probably safer because she's got a more level head, which of course means I'd pursue Huntress that much harder...

Has nobody ever noticed Heather Hudson (Vindicator) of Alpha Flight? Beautiful and smart--what a combination!

Black Canary, all the way. Mmmmm... fishnet stockings... {Homer-esque drool}...
Then again, there's always something to be said for a really big, strong, powerful woman. Even George Costanza had fantasies about makin' it with a giantess. In that vein, I must nominate Big Barda. Mmmm... Apokalicious....

Hehehehe. You guys are funny. This thread is quite amusing.
I deliberately left out the villains, but Magneto would top my list.
The Mole Man? Negative ten stars. Pass.

Fanny Annie. Or was it little Annie fannie. Annie something-or-other. Obviously her super power was to lower men's IQ.

FindlayBoy drools over fishnet stockings, but only on Black Canary (along with two other posters). Doesn't anyone cherish the true black-fishnet-stockinged bombshell in DC comics? Zatana, of course, the female magician who worked her spells via the unlikely method of saying them backwards. More importantly, she dressed like a stage magician, in top hat, tails, high heels, & the all-important black fishnet stockings, giving me my first tingling intimations of adulthood. Definitely hotter than the Canary, and not ashamed of her glorious black hair, either--Black Canary wears a blonde wig.

I'll take ANY girl that J Scott Cambell created. Gen13 or Danger girl. Or Frank Cho's girls. Brandy or Jen (the comic strip liberty meadows) would do nicely.

I would take the Huntress any day.. besides, I'm partial to weapon wielding women in tights..
UPN is launching a new show this fall about three teenage superheroines - one of them apparently the daughter of Batman and catwoman.. aisde from all the "jailbait" jokes and the fact that it might actually be a pretty bad show.. three "bad" girls in spandex.. urrrrrr !!
