WALKER EVANS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PHOTOGRAPHERS, and The Walker Evans Project at the University of Virginia has a lot of photos and background on how they were taken. I highly recommend his Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, co-authored with Knoxville literary legend (and uncle of a college friend of mine) James Agee.
